Abstract

Introduction: Assessment of effective factors in selection of career by nursing students is one of
approaches to identify and conduct talent volunteers to nursing and reinforcement and staff
development in this profession. In many researches has investigated nursing career choice
effective factors, but hasn't said any trend for better or worse nursing career choice.
Objective: Assessment of career choice trend among entrance 2007 to 2009 Kerman University
of Medical Science nursing students by job-personality Holland's theory
Method: All of Kerman University of Medical Science nursing students in 2010 (about 250
persons) had invited to participate in this survey and fill questionnaire developed by investigator.
Data had analyzed by SPSS17
Results: Compare of career choice effective factors among nursing students entrance 2007 to
2009 showed meaningful statistical differences in professional domain (P < 0.05) so freshman
students evaluate these high. There was no meaningful statistical difference in other domains.
Conclusion: Trend of attract nursing students who like it and select this career whit cognition
and because its professional characters that goes to improve, spontaneously is valuable finding,
moreover show improvement of nursing educational system income. This reminds necessity of
educational program performance and proper management in usage of this professional ability
to development of nursing services in any dimension.
