Abstract

Several Studies revealed that musculoskeletal pain in the elderly is very common and they have performed cognitive and behavioral methods for its relief.
The purpose of this study was to explore self-care management strategies among elderly with musculoskeletal pain in Kerman city.
in a cross - sectional study، 370 elderly people in Kerman were selected (90 subjects were resident in nursing homes and others resident in the family). The Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed by SPSS 15 software.
Prevalence of self-care management strategies was 79.2 %( 293). Most subjects were used psychological strategies more than other strategies. Women used the medical strategies more than men. There were statistically significant differences between education level and control pain strategies.
identification of musculoskeletal pain control strategies among elderly is important. These strategies can be applied as accepted methods to reduce pain، and thus improve quality of life of elder patients.
