Abstract

Introduction: Adaptational behavior is the ability to manage challenges through personal and
professional life. Acquiring such ability is one of the most important goals of nursing education.
Adaptational behavior could be learned by nursing students in academic environment. Life skill
education can positively affect nursing students’ adaptational capability.
Objectives: To examine the effect of life skills education on Bam nursing students’ feeling,
thoughts and their behavior in different times and situation.
Method: A quasi experimental study was conducted. Non randomly sample size of 30 students
divided into two groups control and intervention group. Using Bar-On questionnaire (exciting
intelligence) data were collected. Questionnaire consists of 133 items related to feeling, thoughts,
and type of behavior. In the intervention group life skills education was done by psychologists
within some workshops. Data were collected before education and two times after education
(one day and two months after education).
Results: Nursing students’ feeling, thoughts and behavior in the intervention group compared to
those in control group improved, although the difference was not statistically significant.
Conclusion: Life skills education can affect on peoples’ feeling, thoughts and their behaviors.
Life skills are related with behaviors and if they were learned practically they can cause change
in society members and progress of it.
