The present open-access journal has been published semiannually since 2000 under the title of Razi Nursing Faculty Journal of Kerman (in Persian). Since the second half of the year 2011, the Journal of Qualitative Research in Health Sciences has been published quarterly (in English) with its new title and approach. Henceforward, qualitative papers in various subfields of health sciences, such as nursing, midwifery, psychology, etc., have been included in the journal.

Since 2021, JQRHS has been indexed in the Scopus database; it is also indexed in other databases such as DOAJ, Index Copernicus, and SID.

Frequency: Starting with Volume 14 in 2025, the JQRHS will adopt a continuous publication schedule.

The Journal's scope of publication: Studies developed with a qualitative approach, phenomenological methods, content analysis, grounded theory, ethnography, historical research, action research, mixed-method, or other qualitative methods.
