Abstract

Background: While numerous studies have addressed the negative aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, this study aimed to explore nurses’ experiences of the positive aspects of nursing management during the COVID-19 crisis.
Methods: This qualitative study used a phenomenological design. A total of 14 participants, including ten nurse managers at three levels of management and four registered nurses, were selected using purposive sampling from a single educational hospital. Data were collected through individual semi-structured interviews during the seventh wave of COVID-19. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step method via MAXQDA software version 10.
Results: The main theme identified in the study was “the bright side of the COVID-19 crisis”. This theme comprised two subthemes including “solidarity to achieve victory”, with three categories, and “growing through the crisis”, with five categories. The findings highlighted the positive aspects of COVID-19 in nursing management.
Conclusion: The findings from the present study underscored the significance of unity, positive risk-taking, and resilience among nurse managers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The insights can inform health policymakers and provide essential lessons for strategic planning, health maintenance, and the continuity of healthcare organizations
